Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 5, 2026

At DemoStoke, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our platform.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account or use our services, we may collect:

  • Name and contact information (email address, phone number)
  • Profile information and preferences
  • Location data (to show you nearby gear)
  • Communication records between users
  • Transaction history and demo requests

Anonymous Analytics Data

Unless you opt out, we collect anonymous data for performance analytics, including:

  • Website usage patterns and page views
  • Device and browser information
  • Performance metrics and error logs
  • Search queries and filter preferences

This data is used solely to improve our platform's performance and user experience; it is never sold or shared for advertising. Analytics cookies are on by default for visitors outside the EU/EEA/UK (visitors there are asked to opt in first), and you can opt out at any time through our cookie consent banner or the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. See the Cookies and Tracking Technologies section below for details.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies in two categories:

Essential Cookies (Always On)

These are required for DemoStoke to function and cannot be turned off. They include authentication and security cookies, your theme preference (ui-theme), and the record of your cookie consent choice (cookie-consent).

Analytics Cookies (On by Default, Opt Out Anytime)

For visitors outside the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, these are set by default unless you opt out through our cookie consent banner or Cookie Settings. If you appear to be visiting from those regions (based on your device's timezone), analytics cookies are off by default and load only after you opt in. We use:

  • Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) — usage and performance measurement. Sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_*, retained for up to about 2 years.
  • Google Tag Manager — delivers our analytics tags and honors your consent state.
  • Mixpanel — product analytics and session replay. With your consent, Mixpanel may visually replay your session (clicks, scrolling, and page interactions; sensitive inputs are masked). Stores identifiers such as mp_* in cookies and browser local storage, retained for up to about 1 year.

Managing Your Choices

You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings or Do Not Sell or Share My Information links in the site footer, or by . Opting out stops analytics collection and removes analytics cookies from your browser on a best-effort basis.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal and treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information, and your Do Not Sell or Share My Information preference is already on by default, honoring GPC does not change how the site works. GPC does not affect analytics cookies, which we use only for our own internal site improvement; you can opt out of those separately in Cookie Settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide and maintain our services
  • Connect you with gear owners and facilitate demos
  • Send important account and service notifications
  • Improve our platform and develop new features
  • Ensure platform security and prevent fraud

We will never sell your personal information for marketing purposes. Your data is used exclusively to provide our services and improve your experience on DemoStoke.

Information Sharing

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users when you engage in demos or communications
  • With service providers who help us operate our platform
  • When required by law or to protect our rights
  • In connection with a business transfer or acquisition

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

  • Encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest
  • Regular security audits and monitoring
  • Access controls and authentication requirements
  • Secure hosting with industry-standard protections

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and update your personal information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Report privacy concerns or violations

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, via the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. Analytics cookies are off by default for visitors from these regions and load only after you opt in. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California and US State Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Our analytics providers (Google and Mixpanel) process usage data solely as service providers for our own internal site improvement. The Do Not Sell or Share My Information preference is on by default for every visitor and can be reviewed anytime in Cookie Settings (linked in the site footer and available above); we also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal. Because this preference concerns sale and sharing only, it does not turn off analytics cookies — you can opt out of those separately in the same Cookie Settings dialog.

If you are a California resident (or a resident of another US state with a similar privacy law), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to exercise these rights without discrimination. To make a request, contact us.

Financial Information

DemoStoke does not store credit card numbers, bank account information, or other financial payment details. All payment processing is handled by secure third-party payment processors who comply with industry standards.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date.
